The type of fierce advocacy I've always believed in and championed

It's wildfire season in Oregon and places across the country, and I'm doing all I can to make sure that our communities have the resources they need.

Right now, I'm pushing this administration to increase the amount of money dedicated to firefighting efforts so that we can avoid "fire borrowing," a practice that can pull money from other important programs to help pay for firefighting costs.

That's just the start. Last week, I introduced three bills to get ahead of this crisis before it starts:

• Making it easier to use prescribed fire, one of our best tools for reducing the fuel that turns a spark into a firestorm

• Fixing biomass and Renewable Fuel Standard policy so we're clearing dangerous fuel loads instead of leaving them to burn

• Taking on the home insurance mess that's leaving Oregon families in fire-prone areas unable to afford coverage, or unable to get it at all

And on the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee, I've used my seat at the table to fight for real funding increases for wildfire prevention and response, not just bigger checks after the disaster, but real investment before it.

This is the type of fierce advocacy I've always believed in and championed.
