Energy bills are too high

Energy bills are too high, and Trump's approach of doubling down on fossil fuels is making it worse.

This month, I introduced three bills that tackle the energy affordability crisis head-on by supporting affordable clean energy and protecting American consumers from price-gouging natural gas exports.

Here's what each bill does:

Restoring Renewable Energy Parity Act:

President Trump has spent the past year attacking wind and solar through a series of executive orders — blocking permits, launching bogus national security investigations into wind turbine imports, and delaying reviews for over 100 wind projects. This bill repeals those orders and prohibits the administration from reissuing substantially similar ones.

Protecting Americans from High Electricity Prices Act:

Right now, energy companies can get approval to export American natural gas overseas, even when doing so drives up prices for families here at home. This bill reforms the Department of Energy's approval process so that no new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal can be approved if it will raise energy costs for American consumers. It also requires the agency to account for climate emissions in those decisions.

Renewable Energy Choice Act:

Believe it or not, roughly 15–20% of U.S. counties have local restrictions that prevent solar, wind, or geothermal energy from connecting to the grid. This bill puts a stop to that and ensures states and localities can't block Americans from accessing clean, affordable renewable energy in their own communities.

Taken together, these bills stand up to Trump's reckless energy agenda, remove the roadblocks to affordable clean power, and help lower costs for working families.

The path to energy affordability runs through renewable energy — not more fossil fuel exports that benefit corporations while driving up your bills. I'll keep fighting to make that case.
