We are drifting toward a world where the government and billion-dollar corporations track, scan, and profile us without real oversight or accountability.
Right now, Homeland Security has been sending sweeping subpoenas to social media companies, demanding information on accounts that track or even comment on ICE activity. At the same time, ICE is using facial recognition technology to identify and target people, often without transparency or meaningful safeguards. That is a direct threat to our privacy and our constitutional rights.
That's why I co-led the ICE Out of Our Faces Act, because no one should have their face scanned and stored in a government database simply for living their life.
And it's not just the government. Giant corporations are deploying "surveillance pricing," using invasive data tracking to figure out the absolute highest price they can squeeze out of you at the grocery store or online checkout. It's predatory, and I'm fighting to ban this sinister technology. I joined Senator Luján to introduce the Stop Price Gouging in Grocery Stores Act of 2026, which prohibits companies from using surveillance pricing in grocery stores.
Powerful interests love surveillance because it gives them control. I believe in something different: power in the hands of people, not bureaucrats or billionaires.
