ACA enrollment has fallen by more than one million people
It has been over a month since the Affordable Care Act's enhanced premium tax credits expired. Those credits helped working families, seniors, and small business owners afford health insurance. And we're already seeing the consequences of Trump and Republicans letting them lapse.
Premiums are spiking. Families are being forced to choose between paying more each month or dropping coverage altogether. And new data shows ACA enrollment has fallen by more than one million people, with many more folks expected to drop coverage as the months go on.
For years, the enhanced tax credits made the ACA work the way it was intended to work: lowering costs, expanding coverage, and giving people the security of reliable health care. When Republicans let them expire, they pulled the rug out from under them.
Health care should not be a luxury. No one should lose coverage because Republicans refuse to act. Affordable, reliable care is a basic promise we owe one another — and Congress has the power to act right now.
Instead of deploying federal agents on our streets, threatening pointless foreign wars, and further rigging an economy that works for corporations and billionaires, Trump and Republicans should be focused on making your life more affordable. That includes lowering your health care costs.
I will keep pushing to make health care more affordable and make sure every American has access to the quality care they need.
Onward,
Jeff
