Americans across the political spectrum agree on one thing: Members of Congress should not be trading stocks that influence how they think about an issue as they're writing laws or voting. It's a glaring conflict of interest, and it's long past time to end it.
But instead of real reform, House Republicans are pushing a half-baked bill that pretends to fix the problem while letting Members continue to hold and sell stock.
It's a smokescreen. Passing a weak bill would only entrench corruption and let Congress pat itself on the back without actually changing anything.
This is our moment to do it right. Real reform means a full ban on Congressional stock trading, without loopholes or carve-outs. That's why I support comprehensive, bipartisan legislation like the Restore Trust in Congress Act — a serious proposal that actually puts the public interest first.
Anything less is a betrayal of the American people. If Congress can't hold itself to basic ethical standards, how can we expect the public to trust our democracy?

Onward!
