The heart of our Constitution is the separation of powers, and the Founders were crystal clear that decisions of war rest with Congress, the representatives of the people.
President Trump has neither a Congressional declaration of war nor an authorization of war, but he is taking America to war anyway.
He has directed a massive buildup of firepower off Venezuela's shore, blown up a couple of dozen boats with their occupants, ordered a shutdown of Venezuelan airspace, and promised that land strikes are to come.
He is trampling on the law and the Constitution.
If he wants to go to war, he needs to come to Congress and ask for authorization.

Did we learn nothing from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Thousands of American sons and daughters killed, tens of thousands seriously injured, and trillions of dollars wasted.
