That is what persistence looks like
In moments like this, we need leaders who will fight with everything they have.
Yesterday, something extraordinary happened: the House and Senate voted almost unanimously to release the Epstein files. And I led the push in the Senate to make this happen.
But getting here wasn't easy.
When we first began this effort in July, we had only 25 Democratic cosponsors in the Senate. The idea of forcing full transparency — especially with powerful names like Donald Trump included in Epstein's network — was something every Republican was hesitant to touch.
When we forced a vote on the bill in September, all 47 Democrats supported it, but 51 Republicans tabled it. Trump was still hoping this issue would fade away.
But we kept fighting alongside the victims and advocates demanding disclosure. We called out the secrecy. We pushed past the stonewalling. We reminded the Senate that the wealthy and well-connected should face equal justice under the law.
Yesterday, we won the battle, passing the bill to release the Epstein files with the unanimous support of all 100 Senators.
This is a huge stride towards justice for the victims and accountability for the perpetrators. But we are not at the finish line. We will keep carrying the fight to overcome the Trump administration's maneuvers to avoid disclosing the files. We won’t rest until we get full justice for the victims.
That is what persistence looks like. That is what refusing to back down can achieve. Even when battles feel hard, the only way we can win is to keep fighting.
Onward!
