The National Guard is not wanted or needed in Portland

Not only is the National Guard not wanted or needed in Portland, but Trump's politically motivated deployments to cities nationwide are wasting millions of taxpayer dollars. These deployments serve no legitimate purpose beyond tightening his authoritarian grip and intimidating communities that dare to dissent.

That's why I'm demanding a full accounting of how much taxpayer money is being spent on these deployments. The American people deserve full transparency regarding how their tax dollars are used — especially when the federal government deploys military personnel on U.S. soil without a declared emergency or a request from state officials.

Trump's promise to send troops to Portland has stalled in federal court, but we can't assume the threat has passed. Every dollar wasted on these unnecessary deployments is a dollar not going toward the services and support our communities actually need.

I'll continue to push for accountability and transparency. Our democracy depends on it.
