After 22 hours
After over 22 hours, I just stepped off the Senate floor, where I rang the alarm bell about the dangers of Trump's authoritarianism.
Americans are standing up because the President is not a king, the law is not a suggestion, and the Constitution is not optional.
Yet Donald Trump is acting as if all three are up for debate.
He's attacking the free press to silence truth-tellers. He's deploying the military against peaceful protesters. He's defying court orders and weaponizing federal agencies to punish political enemies. Every move is part of a deliberate strategy to normalize authoritarian power — and it's happening right before our eyes.
Trump is trying to make America accustomed to the idea that one man can rule unchecked, but that's not who we are. Our founders rejected monarchy for a reason — they built this nation on the belief that power should rest with the people, not a would-be strongman in the Oval Office.
And let's be clear: Republicans are helping him every step of the way. While families struggle with rising costs and a broken health care system, Trump and his MAGA cronies are using this moment to enrich billionaires, punish blue states, and dismantle the institutions that keep our democracy standing.
With them, it's always the same story: families lose, billionaires win.
I won't let that happen without a fight. I'll keep speaking out on the Senate floor, organizing across Oregon and beyond, and doing everything in my power to defend our democracy, but I can't do it alone.
This is a defining moment for our country. We either stand up together, or we risk losing the very freedoms that define us.
Onward!
