There’s nothing to justify Trump deploying the National Guard
I finished up another workout in my Race to Save the Senate to Save Our Republic. You can watch my latest video update here.
My recent run had me thinking about how fragile our democracy truly is — because once again, Donald Trump is trying to cross a line that no president should ever approach.
After a federal judge ruled there was no rebellion or invasion to justify deploying the National Guard into Oregon, Trump did it anyway. He ordered troops from California and Texas to be sent into our cities. But fortunately, the same judge blocked that as well.
But here's the thing: we can't count on the courts. Already, a court in Chicago failed to block Trump's efforts to bring out-of-state troops into the city. And we know when issues get bumped up to the Supreme Court, they've been ruling, often without hearings, to give more power to the executive.
Let's be very clear about what this is: It's an attempt to normalize the use of the military against the American people. It's a test to see how far he can go. And if he gets away with it now, what happens next?
We've seen this playbook before. Authoritarian leaders around the world use fear and chaos to justify crackdowns, silence dissent, and dismantle democracy from within. That's what Trump is trying to do, and it's up to us to stop him.
We can't rely on the courts or anyone else to save us. It has to be the American public saying hell no, we love our Republic and are willing to stand up and fight for it now.
That's what this Race to Save the Senate is all about: defending our democracy, protecting free speech, ensuring every family has the chance to thrive, and saying no to authoritarianism in America.
We can't sit this one out. We need to show Trump and his cronies that the American people will not be silenced, and we will not surrender our freedoms.
This is the fight of our time, and I need you with me.
Onward,
Jeff
