I'm hitting the track for an all-out Race to Save the Senate.
To save the Senate from Donald Trump and another disastrous Republican majority, we need to lock down the current 47 Democratic seats and cross the finish line first in at least four red-to-blue Senate races.
That's why I'm running 69 laps for my 69th year of life, launching my third Race to Save the Senate.
Every dollar the Race raises will help me to lock down my reelection campaign in Oregon and enable me to then focus on winning campaigns across the country.
As I mentioned in the video, I had my first workout to prepare this morning. It was painful. I haven't jogged in a long time. I jog-walked 3.69 miles at the painfully slow pace of a little over 13 minutes per mile.
To jog 69 quarter-mile laps in my October Race is going to take intense preparation, just as winning 51 Senate seats will take intense focus and dedication.
(That's a dollar and change for each mile of the 3.69 miles I jog-walked this morning on my first workout.)
With every workout in preparation for the October race, I'll be thinking about why a Senate majority matters. We are fighting to save our nation from an authoritarian takeover and have the votes for a progressive agenda to serve the people rather than the powerful.
After each workout, I'll keep you updated and share thoughts about that agenda.
There's no question that some of the Senate races we need to win are going to be difficult. In 2026, we are looking at one of the toughest maps we've ever seen. It includes defending blue seats in tough states like Georgia, Michigan, and New Hampshire.
Then we have to win four more. Impossible? Not at all. Three real possibilities are swing seats in purple states: North Carolina, Maine, and Ohio.
And there are multiple states where a great campaign could deliver seat #51. Tough, yes, but we just need one from the group to take the Senate majority.
