Working families are paying the price
The latest jobs report is out, and the numbers don't lie.
In July, the U.S. economy added only 72,000 jobs, and they revised job growth totals for May and June down by over 250,000 jobs. These are dramatic slowdowns from prior months.
This is what Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans are delivering right now: fewer jobs, a stalled economy, and working families left to shoulder the burden.
And what did President Trump do after these numbers came out? He fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics because he wanted to hide the facts.
The truth is, Trump's economic policies are failing working people.
Inflation is creeping back. Trump's reckless tariffs are making groceries, clothes, and essentials more expensive. Families are struggling to stretch their budgets further each month to stay afloat. Meanwhile, farmers and small businesses are caught in the crossfire of trade wars and political games.
This is the result of deliberate decisions by Trump to benefit the wealthy and well-connected and leave working Americans behind.
We need an economy that rewards everyone — not one that plays politics with people's livelihoods. That means investing in good-paying jobs, rebuilding our infrastructure, lowering costs, and creating economic opportunity in every zip code.
The slowdown we're seeing right now is a wake-up call. We can't afford to keep going down this path.
Onward,
Jeff
