We’re seeing the devastating consequences of the climate crisis

Across the country, we're seeing the horrifying consequences of the climate crisis. From the devastating flash floods in Texas to the massive wildfires tearing through the West, it's clear that extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, more intense, and more deadly.

Here in Oregon, we unfortunately know all too well the toll that catastrophic wildfires take on our homes, our forests, and our livelihoods. But instead of ramping up our efforts to protect communities, the Trump administration is illegally cutting and withholding funding for wildfire mitigation projects.

That's why I've teamed up with Representative Val Hoyle in OR-4 to introduce the Wildfire Resilient Communities Act. This much-needed legislation would provide dedicated, long-term federal support for hazardous fuels reduction, forest restoration, and community preparedness — so we're not scrambling to respond after the fire starts.

Because the truth is: You can't get ready after disaster strikes.

Increasingly extreme wildfire seasons and flash floods are fueled by the climate crisis. This is not a distant threat — it's the new normal. We need bold action and real investment to make our communities safer, our forests healthier, and our country more resilient.

I'll keep fighting for the resources Oregon needs to ensure no community is left behind when disaster hits.

Onward,

Jeff
