The Choose Medicare Act
It's outrageous that in the richest country on Earth, people have to worry about whether they'll be able to afford needed care if they or a loved one becomes sick or gets into an accident. We need to make sure every American — no matter their zip code — has access to high-quality, affordable health care.
Americans are tired of being stuck in a broken health care system that puts profits ahead of people. The good news? We already have an effective, popular solution: Medicare.
That's why I reintroduced the Choose Medicare Act — to make sure every American has the option to buy in if they want to and to put us further along the path toward universal health care.
This legislation opens up Medicare to all Americans and builds on the system we have today. By allowing Medicare to compete with private health insurance, we're giving consumers and businesses a choice on the path to universal health care and lowering health care and prescription drug costs, too. That means no more skyrocketing premiums, surprise bills, or insurance companies making final decisions about your health care.
I'm working hard to improve health care affordability while increasing access, competition, and choice. The Choose Medicare Act would do just that. It's about freedom, fairness, and putting people back in control of their health care.
Right now, we face a clear choice: stick with a broken system that gets more expensive every year, puts working families one pink slip away from losing their health coverage, and makes our businesses less competitive, or an improved model that works for people, expands options, and lowers costs.
We can't afford to do nothing, and that's why I'm urging the Senate to pass the Choose Medicare Act.
Onward!
