The RIF Review Act
Trump and his unelected billionaire accomplice Elon Musk's reckless decision to fire tens of thousands of federal employees threatens the critical services that families, veterans, seniors, and children rely on.
This has nothing to do with fiscal responsibility — it's about cruelly shifting resources away from those who need them most to the very richest among us. Gutting resources and staff from vital programs is sabotaging services, causing pain for folks in Oregon and across the country. Congress must act now and exercise its oversight of the executive branch.
That's why I introduced the Reduction in Force (RIF) Review Act to empower Congress to overrule workforce cuts at federal agencies.
The RIF Review Act puts a critical safeguard in place: if an agency wants to gut its staff, the reduction in force plan is subject to a vote in both houses of Congress. This way, we can create another important check on Trump's power grabs and protect the public from harm.
Congress needs to hold the executive branch accountable. We must protect the programs — and their workers — Americans need to thrive.
Let's get it done!
Onward,
Jeff
