What’s next
After Donald Trump's re-election, many of you have been asking: What's next?
It's easy to feel overwhelmed in moments like this, particularly when there's a lot of noise about the election — about what went wrong and what the Democratic Party needs to do differently to reach more people.
Despite all of the chatter, there are real ways big and small we can all start to help move this country forward through the hard times.
Here's what I'm doing in the next few weeks:
- In the Senate, we're working hard to confirm important Biden judicial and administrative nominees before Trump is inaugurated, despite Republican opposition. We've been voting late into the night and plan to continue as long as it takes.
- I'm listening to Oregonians. Talking to real people about the issues that matter most to them will help our movement move forward. Everyday Americans aren't relitigating past elections; they're trying to put food on the table, pay their rent or mortgage, and take care of their families and loved ones.
- From Trump's nominations to key roles to the fine print of Project 2025, I'm taking a serious look at ways in which we can protect the rights of everyday Americans and hold a Trump administration accountable to our country's laws.
We have faced dark times before. But out of darkness comes the opportunity to make our country something better than it was before.
The values we're fighting for are the right ones, and if we stay engaged, victories will come. We'll go forward together.
Onward!
Jeff
