Earth Day 2024

On this Earth Day, we can all celebrate the fact that the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law have made significant reductions in the greenhouse gas emissions that fuel climate chaos.

But we can't stop there. We still have a LOT of work to do to continue to take on the climate crisis.

We need to start by ending the world's addiction to fossil fuels. During the last three years, President Biden has greenlit a lot of fossil fuel projects, and that has to end. We are flooding the world with fossil fuels — fossil fuels that, if taken out of the ground, will be burned and will contribute to climate chaos.

But fossil fuels aren't the only force harming the planet. We also need to take on plastic pollution. In fact, I'm here in Ottawa at INC4 today, on Earth Day, arguing that the United States takes a strong stance to curb plastic pollution, in partnership with other countries advancing progressive climate proposals. We need a plastics treaty that will stem the flow of plastics that is littering our beaches, destroying our ecosystems, and poisoning human health.

We need action, and we need it now.

So, let's dedicate ourselves on Earth Day to rapidly transition to renewable energy, end the production of fossil fuels, take on plastic pollution, and educate America about the need to preserve our precious planet.

This Earth Day, here's how you can help: Plant a tree, pick up litter, make a plan to use less plastic, and, if you can, make a donation to Climate Champions – my grassroots campaign to elect more leaders in Congress who will join us in this fight for humanity.
