Combating the climate crisis

The new national climate assessment has been released, and it tells a damning story. Because we're not doing nearly enough to slash our use of fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions, we're seeing devastating climate impacts all across the country.

We're on track for 2023 to be the hottest year on record, and, in the US, 2023 has already had more billion-dollar natural disasters than in any other year. This year, we saw ocean temperatures over 100 degrees off the Florida coast, the tragedy of historic Lahaina burning to the ground in Maui, and July 4th being the hottest day in human history.

We can't wait to take bold action to combat the climate crisis.

While Republicans continue to deny climate change even exists and rake in contributions from Big Oil, here's what I've been doing recently to fight the climate crisis:

  • Introduced the Stop Arctic Ocean Drilling Act to end reckless, exploitative oil and gas exploration that damages fragile Arctic ecosystems and contributes to rising temperatures
  • Introduced the Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act to reduce our use of plastics and make corporate plastic polluters pay for poisoning our bodies and the environment
  • Opposed the MVP and GTN Xpress pipelines and am continuously calling for a ban on any new fossil gas projects, including the CP2 LNG export facility
  • Demanded the FTC investigate the effect of Big Oil mergers on gas prices, the economy, and our environment

It's past time to end our reliance on dirty energy. Future generations can't afford for us to sit back and do nothing.

I'll be keeping up the fight, and I'm asking you to join me by electing climate champions who will always put people and planet over profits.
