Happy Veterans Day

On Veterans Day, we honor those who have served our nation in the Armed Forces, including the over 250,000 veterans who call Oregon home. Under circumstances many of us will never fully comprehend, they have fought for and defended the rights and freedoms we have as Americans.

Regardless of background, all our veterans share a commitment to our democracy and its ideals, and they all deserve full recognition of the sacrifices they make for stepping up to protect it.

So I want to say thank you to all of our veterans. Your willingness to serve and sacrifice for the United States represents the very best that our country has to offer. Thank you for your service and for protecting us.

And we need to do more than just say thank you. We need to honor the commitments we have made to our veterans and ensure their sacrifices are not forgotten. Too many veterans come home to limited opportunities, end up unhoused and living on the streets, find it impossible to access care at the VA , or feel forgotten.

That is why we need to also show our gratitude through our actions.

Our veterans stood up for us overseas, and we need to stand up for them here at home. I am committed to ensuring veterans have access to their VA benefits, fighting to end the housing crisis so those who are unhoused can have a place to call home, and providing the support veterans need as they transition out of the Armed Forces.

Our grassroots movement is standing up for veterans every day and fighting to create an America where they can prosper in the country they selflessly served. So, say thank you to our veterans today and join us as we thank our veterans with our actions.
