We can’t afford a government shutdown

This week, the MAGA extremist House Freedom Caucus formally came out against a short-term government funding bill – in other words they're trying to force a government shutdown.

Let me be clear: Kevin McCarthy must not let the extremists in the Freedom Caucus attack American families and businesses.

We've been able to work across the aisle to fund the government and avoid a shutdown time and time again, and this latest partisan game from the Trump wing of the Republican party is dangerous, reckless, and would damage our country.

Let's raise our voices and demand that Republicans come to the table to work towards a solution. Will you sign my petition to tell Kevin McCarthy to get his caucus in line and avoid a government shutdown?

There is a looming deadline on September 30, and right now, we're approaching another moment where the House Freedom Caucus is holding our country hostage to satisfy their fever dreams of political extremism - things like cutting Social Security and Medicare, tossing children out of child care, and of course further restricting access to abortion.

Misguided is an understatement.

Democrats are working towards a government funding deal. We know that there's too much at stake to play chicken with a government shutdown.

A shutdown will only hurt hard-working Americans. Congress doesn't need games, it needs common sense.

Will you sign my petition to tell the House Freedom Caucus to end the political games and fund the government?
