2024 is going to be very tough

It's no surprise that the MAGA-dominated House is proposing outrageous bills – like appropriations bills that cut funding for programs including education, research, public safety, public health, and other areas.

Thankfully, we have a Senate majority that makes bills like these non-starters. For now. That's why I'm already thinking a lot about 2024 — and what we need to do to keep the Senate in Democratic hands.

Make no mistake, it is going to be a tough cycle. We need to be ready to jump into these key races:

OHIO: Senator Sherrod Brown is a powerhouse champion for working folks, which is why he's won three times in a state trending redder and redder. As the chairman of the Banking Committee, he's taken on Wall Street, big banks, the crypto industry, predatory lenders, and more.

WISCONSIN: Senator Tammy Baldwin has been elected twice in the swing state that re-elected hard-right Republican Ron Johnson to the Senate in 2022. As Wisconsin's first woman Senator and the first out LGBTQ+ Senator, Tammy's a fighter who's not afraid to smash glass ceilings.

MONTANA: Senator Jon Tester has won three times in a state that's picked a Republican for President seven times in a row. It's going to be tough, but Jon's a tough guy, and we'll have his back.

PENNSYLVANIA: Senator Bob Casey is a champion for children's health care who's been elected three times in another one of our most competitive swing states.

NEVADA: In 2018, Senator Jacky Rosen was the only Democrat to defeat an incumbent Republican Senator. In her first term, she's been one of those folks working hard, away from the cameras, to protect reproductive rights and deliver smart, bipartisan solutions to improve tourism and commerce, among other issues.

If you're keeping score, you'll see I just named five seats that Democrats have to defend in 2024 in red and purple states. With only a two-seat majority (51-49), we've got our work cut out for us.

If you're ready to get to it, consider making a donation of $10 to the Blue Wave Project – my program to support the candidates we need to keep our majority.

Onward!
