BREAKING: we passed huge climate investments!

Huge news — the voting went all through the night and into the afternoon, but the Senate finally passed the Inflation Reduction Act a few minutes ago.

And there's a lot to be excited about:

✅ Dramatically reduces carbon pollution while creating good, made in America, union jobs.

✅ Empowers Medicare to negotiate some drug prices and bring down health premiums for families.

✅ Makes corporations and billionaires pay their fair share in taxes.

This bill will be the biggest investment in clean energy development in our nation's history, reduce carbon pollution by 40% by 2030, and restore America's role as a leader in the global fight to combat climate change.

I'm not going to pretend there aren't some tough pills to swallow here, too. There are some egregious fossil fuel giveaways, for example. I'm all in to keep pushing back and fighting to end oil and gas drilling and the subsidies for polluters. But make no mistake: even with these bad provisions, this bill will transform America's energy usage.

We should celebrate this big victory over polluters and big Pharma and Wall Street billionaires. And then we need to get back to work! There is still so much to do on voting rights, reproductive rights, filibuster reform and more. Donate $3 now to the Blue Wave Project and help us expand our Senate majority.

The Inflation Reduction Act is a great first step in meeting our carbon emissions goals and taking on corporate greed. But if we had just two more Democratic senators, we could have passed an even bolder bill months ago. The tied Senate makes it very difficult to pass a comprehensive agenda when any one senator can block progress.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: 50 Democrats in the Senate is NOT enough. We have a real shot at expanding our Democratic majority this November. Chip in $3 today to help elect Senate Democrats around the country and keep our progress going.

Onward,

Jeff
