We can’t let this be another Merrick Garland situation

I was there, on the Senate floor, day after day, month after month as Mitch McConnell and the Republicans blocked Merrick Garland's Supreme Court nomination from ever being considered. That unprecedented theft of a Supreme Court seat was a significant attack on our democracy, one that has inspired action each day since.

Today President Biden is giving us reason for optimism and hope, with the historic nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.

But we cannot be complacent. We know from Merrick Garland's experience that if Republicans control the Senate, President Biden will never be given a chance to put another justice on the Court. We cannot let that happen!

So please, pitch in $3 today to our Blue Wave Project so we can hold onto the Senate in 2022. We can't let Mitch McConnell block our progress.

For 233 years of our republic, there has never been a Black woman justice on the Supreme Court. Judge Jackson would not only bring unique lived experience to the Court, but her experience as a federal defender would offer valuable perspective as well. We need justices who understand the coordinated attack on the American people's economic and political rights and I look forward to meeting Judge Jackson, reviewing her credentials, and hearing her vision.

The Supreme Court plays an enormous role in our lives and we must be able to confirm justices who will defend our constitutional values. That's only possible with the right Senators. Thanks for your help.
