Sign my petition and tell Congress: We have to build back better!

Over the last few weeks, I've told you about how the Build Back Better plan makes critical investments in our nation's families and future by improving access to affordable health care and education, and tackling the climate crisis.

As I've been saying, we should be talking about what and how to invest in America's people, not the price tag.

But there's one area where we should be talking about money. And that's tax fairness.

Tax fairness matters.

Currently, the richest 400 families in America pay an effective income tax rate of just 8% on average.

A recent study found that the 379 largest and most profitable companies in America paid an effective corporate income tax rate of just 11%.

And 91 of them — including Amazon, Chevron, and Halliburton — paid no federal corporate income tax at all!

That's far less than middle-class Americans pay.

Every one of these mega-rich individuals and companies should pay their fair share.

This bill includes the biggest-ever tax cut for families in America's history and will cut in half the number of America's children living in poverty.

It also includes a tax increase on the wealthiest Americans and large corporations to ensure that they're paying their fair share. After all, many of them have profited mightily during this pandemic.

And to ensure that those tax increases aren't evaded, we'll make a big investment in tax enforcement to ensure that the wealthiest Americans pay what they owe.

Let's make sure that tax fairness is not forgotten in this fight. Sign my petition and tell Congress: We have to build back better!

The very wealthy don't need to worry about access to child care or how much their prescription drugs cost. Their kids already have access to elite pre-K and college. Their money shields them from the worst impacts of climate-related natural disasters. They're even paying less in taxes than many middle-class Americans.

The Build Back Better plan is our chance to remake an America that puts a premium on opportunity for everyone, no matter where they live, what they look like, or how much money they have. Let's get it done!
