Sign my petition: Fight climate chaos and protect the ocean

There's a lot going on, so I want to make sure that we don't lose sight of the critical work we have to do to protect the planet for the future of humanity.

Today is World Ocean Day, and I've joined a broad coalition of activists and leaders calling on Congress to move boldly on policies to protect the health of our ocean and coastal communities.

Will you join me and sign this critical petition?

If you'll allow me a moment of nerdiness, here's something I want to share:

Our ocean works to store vast amounts of heat and carbon dioxide, absorbing 90% of the world's excess heat and one-third of the world's carbon.

That means that as we generate carbon pollution, it's going into the ocean. And as the planet warms up, the ocean absorbs the heat. Both of those things are very bad for the species that live in the ocean — species that humanity relies on for, well, food and oxygen.

We must act. And we must act now. And we must act together.

Please join me in calling on Congress for bold action to protect our ocean – *now!*
