We’re going to fund campaigns with corporate fines

You've seen the emails.

"Donate now and we'll match your donation three to one!" A lot of those emails are scams. And even if the match exists, it probably comes from a donor who would've given the same amount regardless.

But imagine for a moment that every single grassroots donation really was matched — and the money came from the fines paid by big corporate lawbreakers and wealthy tax cheats.

That would be pretty cool. Abusing the public trust? We're going to make you pay to rebuild it.

Under the For the People Act, candidates who reject high-dollar donations and demonstrate grassroots support would see any donation up to $200 matched on a six-to-one basis.

That's right. If you donate $27, your donation would be matched with $162 from tax cheats and corporate lawbreakers. If you donate $100, your donation would be matched with $600.

Talk about empowering the grassroots.

Will you cast a vote of confidence in this plan by donating just ONE DOLLAR to help us build grassroots support for it? There's no match yet, but your $1 donation right now will help me demonstrate a groundswell of public support.

[We're going to stop the dark money in politics — powered in part by massive corporations and the ultra-wealthy. It's time to force corporate criminals and tax cheats to pay to rebuild what they've willfully broken.

And, in the aftermath? We get a brighter future with better democratic participation, opening the door to a new generation of leaders who might otherwise be shut out of public service.

Pitch in now and let's build this movement.
