This is a battle for our very republic
On Sunday, Donald Trump made his first public speech as an ex-President. It was the usual hit parade of distortions, falsehoods, and nonsense.
He continued to pitch his Big Lie — that the election in 2020 was stolen from him. That couldn't be further from the truth. The election of 2020, as you know, was the most secure election in history, with the biggest voter turnout in history. Joe Biden won by 7.5 million votes and by the same margin in the Electoral College that Donald Trump called a "landslide" four years earlier. And dozens of courts, including the Supreme Court, rejected Trump's claims over and over and over.
But amid all those lies, Donald Trump exposed his one big truth: That to win, Donald Trump and the Republicans need to prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional right to vote. When he calls for "election integrity and election reform", he means cutting back on voting hours, restricting vote-by-mail, expanding racist voter ID laws, gerrymandering districts, and using mega-donations by billionaires and multinational corporations laundered through SuperPACs to overwhelm campaigns with attack ads.
There are three things we have to do:

We have to finally, at long last, stop letting Mitch McConnell use the filibuster as a veto against legislation supported by a majority of the Senate and the House.
