A constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College

In state capitols across the country today, members of the Electoral College are meeting to make it official: Joe Biden will be the next President of the United States.

And while we should celebrate our victory, we should also take this moment to commit to each other that this should be the last Electoral College vote in history.

The Electoral College is undemocratic. The person who wins an election should be the person who gets the most votes from the most people.

The Electoral College is unrepresentative. It gives some Americans more power to choose the president than other Americans.

The Electoral College is a racist relic. It was designed to protect the political power of slave owners, and it has no place in our modern society.

The Electoral College is exclusionary. It creates a system where presidential campaigns compete over a handful of "swing states", rather than appealing to all Americans, no matter where they live.

Please sign my petition to abolish the Electoral College. Let's build the political power we need to pass a constitutional amendment to end it, once and for all.

Onward!
