Who do I support for Oregon State Treasurer?

Some politicians — way too many — go to work every day thinking about how to make wealthy and powerful people even wealthier and more powerful.

And some leaders — like my friend, Tobias Read — are relentlessly focused on how to help working families thrive.

Tobias is Oregon's Treasurer, and he's been using that position to take on two of the biggest financial challenges families face — paying for their kids' higher education and retiring securely.

Our state Treasurer must be a strong and progressive financial advocate for better education options for our families and for the safety and dignity of an actual retirement for our workers.

Tobias Read is just that. And he needs our grassroots support in this last month of his re-election campaign. His wealthy opponent is self-funding his campaign to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. Please donate now.

Under Tobias's leadership, Oregon is pioneering new ways to help people save for retirement and to make it easier for their employers to support. Already, 73,000 Oregonians are participating in the OregonSaves program and have saved over $65 million. In fact, I like the idea so much that I've introduced legislation to take the program national.

And with higher education out of reach for far too many families, Tobias is taking on the crushing financial burden of college by protecting and promoting the Oregon College Savings Plan and helping ensure that low-income families have better access to the program. Oregon families have already started saving for over 130,000 childrens' college educations.

We need leaders who are working every day to solve the real challenges Oregonians face. Like Tobias.
