There can be no corruption or politics in this:

When the Senate passed the $2 trillion coronavirus rescue bill, we made a promise.

Now we have to keep it.

I fought hard for protections for the middle class, for small businesses, for Main Street. For better unemployment benefits for people struggling during this difficult time. For expanded food stamp benefits. For our hospitals and those on the medical front lines.

The last thing we need right now is a struggling family to be unable to buy food, a hospital unable to get medical equipment, a small business unable to get relief—all because politicians are getting in the way.

We have to make absolutely sure that the money we've allocated goes exactly where it should, that corruption or political influence doesn't delay critical aid, distribute it unfairly, or cause it to never show up.

That's where I'm really going to get to work.

Through this coronavirus pandemic and beyond, I will be your watchdog. I will stand up to Donald Trump, his allies, anyone who looks to profit or misdirect relief during this crisis.

This isn't only about the Trump administration, either. This is about Mitch McConnell and his Republican allies in the U.S Senate.

You'd better believe I'm going to be keeping an extra close watch on the Senate majority over the coming weeks and months, because now is not the time for political games, extremist nonsense, or attempts to put Wall Street profits ahead of the health and safety of everyday Americans.

This is a challenging time for our country. But this is also a time for all of us to come together, for government, community groups, businesses, and individuals to rally and fight for our future.

We can do this together.
