Selling tear gas and rubber bullets to the Hong Kong police? Not so fast.

State-sponsored violence. Human rights abuses. Peaceful protests met with force.

That's what people living in Hong Kong are facing as they fight for a democratic future.

Many of us have spoken out in favor of the Hong Kong protestors. But we can and must do more. We must ensure that America does not enable or empower the police force in Hong Kong to oppress this pro-democracy movement.

That's why I led a bipartisan charge in the Senate to ensure that no one in the United States is allowed to sell tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, and other crowd control equipment to the police force in Hong Kong.

See a problem. Take a stand. Bring people together. Get it done.

That is what public service should be about. And it's why it's my privilege to serve the people of Oregon in the U.S. Senate.

Onward,

Jeff
