I want to tell you about my dad

I know the importance of a solid, steady paycheck.

Growing up, my dad was a union mechanic. On his wages, my parents were able to buy a modest ranch home, take annual camping vacations, and save a little for retirement.

Thanks to my dad and mom's hard work — and some hard work by some excellent teachers — I was able to be the first in my family to go to college.

And I was determined to pass along that work ethic to my children — inspired by the example mom and dad set in their lives.

That's why I'm writing to you today. Because I need to make something perfectly clear: when we talk about our clean energy future, this isn't only about saving our planet.

This is about prosperity for our families and for our future. About good jobs.

The transition to a clean energy economy and away from fossil fuels is already happening across the world. How we act now will determine whether America leads that transition, creating millions of good-paying, family-wage jobs.

Or whether that opportunity, and those jobs, will belong to some other country.

With the right investment in a clean energy economy, more and more families will be able to lift themselves up and thrive. By ensuring that more clean energy jobs are union jobs and provide good wages and working conditions, we can guarantee better lives and better futures for so many of our friends and neighbors.

Now it's on us. Do we make the smart investment in our future, or do we double down on the polluting ways of the past that are already endangering our planet?

We need a Senate that knows we must act now. Chip in today and let's get it done!

I'm doing my part in the Senate by championing legislation that will move us into the future with a strong clean energy economy; legislation that ensures that when we create clean energy jobs that more of those jobs are family-wage jobs with strong protections for workers.

The next step is on our movement. This will only be possible if we take back the Senate from the anti-science, anti-clean energy obstructionists like Mitch McConnell — who are all too happy to take big campaign dollars from polluters even if it means sacrificing our future.

Donate right now. Join me as we build a clean-energy, good-jobs future by taking back the Senate in 2020.

Onward.
