[Petition] The dramatic plan we need to fight climate chaos

Here's a bold idea: let's dramatically cut the pollution causing a climate crisis AND create jobs and innovation here in America.

How? End the sale of pollution-spewing cars by 2040.

I already drive an electric car, and it's great. Imagine never having to go to the gas station – it's liberating! Every year electric cars go further and charge faster. And there are other non-polluting technologies too.

We have the technology, and it keeps getting better. So my plan is to gradually ramp up so that, by 2040, 100% of all vehicles sold in the United States are zero-emission vehicles.

This matters. A lot. Climate chaos is very real and we're already feeling its devastating effects. If we don't aggressively fight it, things are only going to get much worse.

And if we don't win the race to break our addiction to oil, we'll lose our edge as the center of innovation. Climate chaos is a global problem, and other countries are going gangbusters to develop solutions they can sell worldwide. We can't let climate deniers steal those economic opportunities from Americans.

That's why I'm building a movement to address a big problem: our lingering dependence on dirty fossil fuels. And why I want you to sign my petition today telling Congress to make the total switch to zero-emission vehicles by 2040.

This won't be easy. Dramatic change never is.

But it's utterly necessary. If we want to survive and thrive as a country and people, we've got to get this done.
