Making Medicare for All a reality:

How many difficult conversations happen every year because our American health insurance system isn't a health care system? How many families struggle each year, squeezed by an inability to pay the outrageous costs of care – even if they have insurance?

Instead of prioritizing care for the sick and vulnerable, our industry puts a premium on profits. That's wrong.

Which is why I'm proud to be working hard in the Senate to make Medicare for All a reality here in America.

My bottom line: everyone should have access to Medicare.

This is critically important in rural and underserved communities, where insurance choice is often a bottleneck.

For something so commonsense, this fight to create decent health care for everyone has been tremendously difficult.

From the struggle to even pass the Affordable Care Act in 2010, to the incessant efforts to push people off of insurance and drive up the costs, to the scare tactics about Medicare for All, the privileged and powerful are fighting hard to protect industry profits and their stranglehold on our care system.

Which is why I'm writing to you today.

Over the coming weeks and months, you'll be hearing more about our efforts to make Medicare for All a reality here in America, and how you can get involved on the frontlines of this fight.

Stay tuned. We're just getting started.
