Cows, hamburgers, and airplanes
Climate chaos is all around us in record droughts, vicious hurricanes, and devastating wildfires, wrecking homes and businesses and even costing people their lives.
That's why I am calling for a Green New Deal for all Americans.

If you hear the far-right and big polluters spin it, some wild things are about to happen.
Abolish ice cream, hamburgers, and hot dogs.
Cows? So long. They'll be all gone.
Plane travel? A thing of the past.
Of course these are ridiculous assertions. But that doesn't stop right-wing media from whipping up frenzied talking points to serve up to their viewers.
Our actual plan:
- Invest in clean and renewable energy.
- Create millions of clean energy jobs, especially in frontline rural and urban communities that have chronic high unemployment.
- Rebuild our nation's infrastructure and pave the way for a new, green economy free from dependence on fossil fuels.
- Use this investment to transform America around social, economic, and racial justice.
This isn't about outlawing milkshakes and eliminating all carbon, everywhere. This is about a carbon-neutral future. This is about stepping up to the generation-defining challenge and tackling the climate crisis that is upon us.
We must transform our country to value people's hard work, to treat everyone with dignity and respect, and to give a chance to communities that have been left behind or subject to discrimination. It's about making America a land of opportunity.
