Trump's CASH FOR CRONIES scheme
While working Americans are pressed to the wall with sky-high costs of everything from gas to groceries to health care, Trump has been focused on sending more money to ICE and Border Patrol and his corrupt CASH FOR CRONIES scheme.
How did this happen? In January, Trump sued his own administration for $10 billion. Then his attorney general — his former personal lawyer — crafted a settlement to hand Trump nearly $2 BILLION of your tax dollars as a personal slush fund.
When I pressed Trump's attorney general about whether those funds could flow to insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol on January 6, he refused to answer. When I asked whether he would put in place any guidelines to prevent that from happening, he refused to answer again.
This is not how the law is supposed to work, and this is not what your tax dollars are for.
If this kind of scheme happened in the most corrupt country in the world under the most corrupt leader, we'd say it was unbelievable. But Trump is trying to make it happen here in the United States of America.
Today, Senate Republicans will vote on a reconciliation bill to give ICE and Border Patrol billions more dollars to carry out their rogue operations. And while Trump's CASH FOR CRONIES scheme is out of the bill for now, Democrats will offer amendments to try to stop it forever.
