Gutting the CFPB? Not on our watch:

It was 2008. The housing crisis hit my blue-collar neighborhood in East Portland hard.

Families lost their homes, their pensions, and their life savings due to the Wall Street financial crisis. While news reporters and politicians claimed that the big banks were "too big to fail," our neighbors were left drowning without a lifeline.

That's why we fought so hard to create the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB was built to defend the middle class from big banks' unfair financial practices.

Under Donald Trump, it's all at risk of falling apart.

Chip in before the end of the month. Let's kick off our campaign to protect the CFPB right now.

Trump has nominated Kathy Kraninger to lead the CFPB. For starters, she has no formal banking or consumer protection experience. And it's telling that the very people who've tried for years to gut the CFPB love her nomination.

Earlier this year, Kraninger came before the Senate. She was evasive and refused to answer Senators' questions.

Even worse: in her time as a White House budget official, Kraninger was likely involved in the immoral child separation policy at the border.

And now she's going to be in charge of protecting families from financial corruption? No way.

We must protect the CFPB. Join me. Chip in today.
