Teachers with guns? Tell Betsy DeVos and Congress NO!
I have never, not once, in all my years of working with teachers, heard an educator say, "You know what I need to improve classroom learning? I need a gun."
But Education Secretary Betsy DeVos thinks arming teachers to prevent gun violence is a great idea. And she wants to use tax dollars to fund her unsafe, unsound plan.
What do teachers tell me they need?
Books, snacks, and meals for students in poverty, aides to help manage overcrowded classrooms, art supplies, computers.
Taxpayer-funded arms for teachers will not make our children safe.
But you know what it would do? Boost gun sales and manufacturers' profits. Not to mention line the coffers of NRA lobbyists and their enablers in Congress.
Sign the petition to stop the madness. Tell Congress, guns do not belong in the classroom.
