100 Towns Tour for Change
Jeff made his first stop of the day in Coos Bay to share lunch with members of the Coos Bay Rotary Club and talk about the importance of fiscal responsibility in government.
Up next was a town hall meeting in Bandon with over two dozen community members. People brought cookies, coffee, and brownies and discussed how we can end the war in Iraq and protect Social Security and Medicare.
Jeff ended the day in North Bend at the grand opening of the Southwest Regional Airport. The event was a community-wide affair attended by a few hundred people including Congressman Peter DeFazio, State Representative Arnie Roblan, and Coos Bay Mayor Jeff McKeown. The crowd was serenaded by a string quartet in celebration of the new venue.
Tomorrow, Jeff will continue his 100 Towns for Change tour in Lakeside, Reedsport, Mapleton, and Florence. If you live in or live nearby any of these towns, be sure to check the event times and locations here and stop by to say hello.

Dear Mr. Merkley: At the Wedn even. (July 2nd) Florence area meeting at the Honeyman S.P. yurt meeting hall, I asked you about the Workplace Religious Freedom Act. (I erroneously added the word "Restoration" between "Freedom" and "Act". "Restoration" was in New York State Legislation, not the federal bill.) The correct bill no. for the federal legislation is H.R. 1431. Full text can be found at GovTrack.us.
Lead sponsor is Carolyn Murphy [D-NY]. 36 co-sponsors are listed, 15 D's, and 21 R's, not a one from Oregon.
