100 Towns Tour for Change

Jeff joined Candy Neville in Springfield on Monday evening to talk about how we’re going to end the War in Iraq and bring our troops home. Candy has been a consistently strong voice in opposition to the failed policies of the Bush Administration and a tireless advocate for our troops. We’re extremely happy that she’s bringing her dedication and passion to support Jeff Merkley as Chair of the Merkley Campaign to Bring Troops Home.

Watch Candy and Jeff talk about Gordon Smith’s record on the Iraq War:

Gordon Smith is currently running TV ads that falsely identify him as “one of the first to stand up to George Bush” to end the war in Iraq. Last week, members of Oregon’s congressional delegation set the record straight and explained that Gordon Smith continually supported the war until he saw six of his Republican colleagues lose their seats in 2006. Even after his public announcement of opposition to the war, Smith has voted over and over to continue funding it.

Jeff has been a long-standing opponent of the war. He spoke out against the war in Iraq from the very beginning and was the first U.S. Senate candidate to sign on to the Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq.

KATU news ran a story last week on Gordon Smith’s deceptive ad. If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it below:
