OR-Sen: Holding lead

Research 2000 for Daily Kos. 10/14-15. Likely voters. MoE 4% (9/22-24 likely voters.)

Smith (R) 41 (40)
Merkley (D) 47 (45)

I sure do like those trends, even if they're just statistical noise within the margin of error, with the incumbent Smith still way below the magical 50 percent mark, and Merkley himself creeping ever closer. Nine percent of Democrats remain undecided, which is understandable given years of being told that Smith was "moderate" and whatnot. Odds are good that we get those votes, and with them, Merkley wins the race. Merkley also gained two points among independents and now leads them 45-41.

Obama maintains a commanding 53-38 advantage. Kerry only won the state by a narrow 52-47 edge in 2004.
