Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden Join Forces to Fight for Energy Independence & Lower Gas Prices

Jeff Merkley has come out a strong plan to lower gas prices, relieve pain for consumers, and end American dependence on foreign oil. When Jeff reaches the U.S. Senate, he will:

• 1. Take immediate steps to close the "London loophole" and end excessive speculation
• 2. Provide direct, immediate relief to families and businesses now
• 3. Increase domestic production and supply, forcing oil companies to "Use It or Lose It"
• 4. Make major investment to end America's dependence on foreign oil, expanding production of renewable fuels, fostering new research into cellulosic ethanol, and increasing fuel efficiency

And, recently, he and Senator Ron Wyden have teamed up in their efforts to fight for consumers, for energy independence, and for lower gas prices. Senator Wyden has made it clear: Oregon needs Jeff Merkley in the U.S. Senate.
