It is the Smith Myth. For nearly 12 years Smith has put George Bush and D.C. special interests before rural Oregonians.

He sings a different tune in an election year, but Gordon Smith’s policies have led to the loss of nearly 30% of Oregon timber jobs, nearly 30% of wood product manufacturing jobs, and nearly 25% of paper manufacturing jobs.

The truth: Smith has opposed tax relief to help farmers and ranchers and country-of-origin labeling to spur rural economic growth. When rural Oregon needed his help to reauthorize timber payments, he failed to convince just one of his colleagues to do what was right.
