Rob Brading and Ben Cannon: Jeff Merkley is the leader we need in the U.S. Senate!
"Jeff as a leader stood up to lobbyists time and time again to fight for progressive values." --State Representative Ben Cannon
"That's the kind of courage, the kind of skills, the kind of personal integrity and richness that Jeff will take to Washington to fight for Oregonians."--Rob Brading
State Representative Ben Cannon is one of the new, young, fresh progressive faces in the Oregon House. Cannon represents House District 46 in Portland, a seat he won in 2006. Rep. Cannon is also a middle school teacher and education advocate. Cannon has been chair of the Oregon Bus Project's Education Policy Council and is considered a rising star in our state.
Rob Brading is a progressive hero and champion for Oregon. He ran for the Oregon House twice against Republican House Speaker Karen Minnis. While Rob couldn't overcome the million-dollar-plus money that Minnis dumped into her campaign, he is one of the handful of individuals widely credited with pushing the Oregon House Republicans into the minority. Rob's courageous campaign in 2006 forced Minnis to pour money into her own race, starving Republican candidates in other areas of the state.
Both appear on our latest web-only video, talking about Jeff Merkley's ability to build coalitions and bring people together to pass amazing progressive legislation!
