Oregon AFSCME Endorses Jeff Merkley for U.S. Senate

PORTLAND—Oregon AFSCME Council 75 has voted to endorse Jeff Merkley’s bid for U.S. Senate. The council represents 22,000 workers throughout the state. Their membership includes corrections officers, child care workers, city government employees, 9-1-1 operators and others.

“Oregon AFSCME does great work representing the men and women who provide vital services to Oregonians,” Merkley said. “I’m proud to stand up and fight for working families throughout Oregon, and I’m proud to have Oregon AFSCME right there with me.”

Oregon AFSCME Council 75 joins the growing list of labor groups supporting Merkley. Merkley has already earned the support of UFCW Local 555 and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union. Oregon AFSCME is an AFL-CIO affiliated union.
